Charles Orchard moved from London to Hong Kong 30 years ago as an art and antiques consultant during the rapid development of the Asian hotel market. In 2000, he relocated to Bali to be closer to a manufacturing base and established iBal Designs to provide high-end furniture, accessories and artwork for the constantly evolving hospitality industry. Charles has published nine photographic coffee table books on interior design, including his most recent in 2019 called Singapore Colonial Style.
Hospitality furniture – Our work is seen in the interiors of over 100 hotels worldwide. We have worked with leading design firms and major international procurement companies manufacturing furniture for prestigious hotel brands including: Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt, Waldorf Astoria, TAJ Group, Kempinski, Regent, St Regis, Orient Express, InterContinental, Jumeirah and Alila as well as numerous boutique hotels and private residences.
Bespoke furniture – For design driven private clients and interior designers who desire unique customised luxury pieces featuring specialised finishes and unusual materials, we provide a collaborative bespoke experience and dedicated craftsmen.
Art consultancy and supply – iBal Designs art division has successfully supplied both volume art for guestrooms and commissioned public area feature artwork to complement the design and locality of the project for luxury hotels such as Mandarin Oriental, Aman Resorts, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and projects with leading interior designers.
iBal Designs is an environmentally-conscious company. Charles is Chairman of the non-profit humanitarian ROLE Foundation (Rivers, Ocean, Land, Ecology), which works with local disadvantaged Indonesian communities educating on environmental issues and providing employment training.
iBal Designs retail shop and head office is located in Seminyak, Bali. Our showroom has a wide range of furniture, artwork and accessories.
iBalDesigns’ sample factory in Bali develops high quality samples for client approval and produces custom and small orders.
For volume manufacturing, the samples are sent to the larger factories in Java featuring full modern production capability.
